Mark A. Brzezienski, MS, MD, FACS joined the Plastic Surgery Group and Hayes Hand Center in August 1995. Dr. Brzezienski is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He also holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand through the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is Chairman, Professor, and Program Director in the Department of Plastic Surgery and Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery (Hand) at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga. Dr. Brzezienski trains resident physicians pursuing the specialties of both plastic and reconstructive surgery, and orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Brzezienski’s plastic surgery practice encompasses a special interest in breast reconstruction following mastectomy. He is the former Founding Director of Plastic Surgery at the Memorial / CHI Mary Ellen Locher Breast Center, Chattanooga. He has innovated breast reconstructive surgeries which have advanced the science and field of breast reconstruction both in Chattanooga and nationally.

Dr. Brzezienski’s cosmetic surgery practice combines his three-decade-long experience with reconstructive plastic surgery and cutting-edge aesthetic surgery techniques. He is widely recognized for his expertise in both primary and secondary cosmetic breast surgery. His dedication to Cosmetic Body Contouring has led to a significant advancement of this field in Chattanooga. From Awake Vibratory Liposuction to comprehensive fat grafting techniques, and “progressive tension” abdominoplasty to Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, Dr. Brzezienski’s surgical acumen has been central to the production of safe, reliable, and thoughtful cosmetic surgery results.

As Founding Partner in RefinedLooks Spa, he has a deep experience in combining injectable fillers and neurotoxins with radiofrequency and varied LASER platforms to achieve excellence in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation results.

Dr. Brzezienski also treats a wide variety of hand problems through Hayes Hand Center. His Orthopedic Hand Surgery Fellowship and experience allow him to provide comprehensive care in this specialized area.

Dr. Brzezienski is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was Board Certified in General Surgery after completing training at the University of Connecticut. He completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York after which he spent a year in Orthopedic Hand and Microsurgery Surgery Fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand Center at Thomas Jefferson University.

He is an active member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, The American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons, and The Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is also a member of the “invitation only” American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He has broad involvement with The Chattanooga and Hamilton County Medical Society holding office as President, Chairman of the Legislative Committee, President of the Medical Foundation, and Vice Chairman of IMPACT. He is a Delegate to the Tennessee Medical Association (TMA), House of Delegates.

Dr. Brzezienski is a member of the Advisory Board to Mentor Worldwide (Johnson and Johnson), and a consultant to Pacira Pharmaceuticals (EXPAREL), The Musculoskeletal Tissue Foundation, and Invuity (Hidden Scar Technique). He has been involved in committee service with every Plastic Surgery local, regional, and national organization.

He is the youngest physician to receive the TMA’s Distinguished Service Award for his development and sustenance of the Medical Youth Leadership Forum. He serves as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Brzezienski is a widely published author in scientific journals and lectures frequently on a wide variety of subjects within his field of specialty.

Dr. Brzezienski is a classically trained pianist with an interest in history, art, and gardening.

Dr. Brzezienski and his wife, Jayne, have two daughters, Isabella and Alexandra. They reside on Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga.
